How great is the feeling of when you have had one of those exhausting days at work where everything that could go wrong has gone wrong, and where you feel like you have not stopped all day and then you climb into bed? Then the feeling hits you, the feeling of total relaxation and relief that the day is over and done with and you can start again tomorrow, start afresh and put today behind you. There cannot be many more satisfying feelings than that. The feeling of complete safety and relaxation when being in your own bed is very hard to beat, those of you who stay away from home regularly and stay in hotels will understand what I mean more better than others. So what is it about your own bedroom that makes it so special and what can you do to make it even better?
We all have an attachment of one sort or another to rooms within our homes, those people who enjoy cooking and socializing would probably say that the kitchen is their favourite room whilst those amongst us that use the living room as their family room would probably opt for this being their number one room within the house. But the bedroom is different than these rooms, the bedroom is our room. Other than the time we spend in the bedroom with our partner or loved one it is our room of solitude and peace, we control the noise level within it and it is where we keep our personal possessions.
How we live in our bedrooms is a very personal thing also. Some people are neat and tidy and have their bedroom looking like a show house whilst others have a bedroom that looks like it has hosted a night of bull fighting. The main thing with your bedroom though is to have it how you want it. The way we decorate our bedroom is also very personal, most people opt for very light and neutral coloring on the walls whilst some of the more exotic people out there opt for very bold, dark, boudoir colors.
You can get away with any color scheme in a bedroom because it really is such a personal room, as long as the bedroom furniture matches the color scheme it is pretty hard to get it wrong. Heavy materials such as velvet tend to lend themselves to rooms that are of a darker color whilst rooms that are very bright and natural in shade tend to lean more towards the natural fibers of linen or cotton.
Some people like to have light flooding into their bedroom, whether it is moon light or natural sun light whilst others prefer to have nothing at all other than total pitch black in the bedroom. Whichever category you fall into it is important to ensure that you have your bedroom furniture positioned correctly to guarantee that you get the maximum desired effect. If you like the darkness you do not want to position your bed so that first thing in the morning sunlight comes streaming in directly onto you whilst you sleep. Likewise if you like the brightness if would seem strange to position your bed in the darkest corner of the room hence negating any benefits from the light.
